Pay it ---->

Pay it forward.

A simple yet powerful statement.

If you have not seen this movie, that is such a shame! You must do it as soon as you get the chance. What a wonderful message it portrays. I had seen this movie a few years ago, but then just had the opportunity for some extra credit in my human development class to watch it again tonight and write a couple page paper on a few things about it. I'm glad I decided to, because I forgot how good it really was!

Like I said earlier: pay it forward. A simple message that I think everyone should try. I challenge you :) Basically this is how it works if you haven't heard of it before. It begins with you. Choose 3 people that you want to help make a difference in their lives. It can be with something big like in the movie, or since I know life can be hectic, it can be something of smaller service. But anyway, choose 3 people to help serve. Then somehow (afterwards) let them know to do the same to 3 other people and "pay it forward." I think it would really make a difference in this crazy world. If you think about it, it spreads quite fast! {Just like the below photo shows!} :)

Anyway. It was just on my mind, so I thought I would share.

Pay it forward.

White and Pure

I am so grateful for such an amazing gift that my Heavenly Father has given to me. What is that gift you might ask? My virginity; the opportunity I have to be chaste. Lds.org has chastity defined as ". . .sexual purity. Those who are chaste are morally clean in their thoughts, words, and actions. Chastity means not having any sexual relations before marriage. It also means complete fidelity to husband or wife during marriage."
We live in an evil world today with many warped ideas of how people should be, and what's okay and not okay. I'm grateful to live in a church that respects women and doesn't objectify them in any way. I am also so grateful that I have the opportunity to save myself for that special someone, in hopes that he will do the same and that we can be sealed for all of time and eternity in the House of the Lord, then to raise up together, a righteous family. It just makes me so happy to think about! :) :)
I love the verses in 1 Corinthians, chapter 6 which say:

18Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

It is SO true. Christ paid for all of our sins so that we would be able to repent of anything and everything. But that doesn't mean we should go out and do whatever we would like, knowing that it's possible to repent and be fully forgiven. It just doesn't work that way. God expects us to live the best way that we can. . . but he knows that some of us are going to fall along the way and it may be hard for us to get back up, especially on our own. That is why we have to reach out to Him for help. He is always there for us. Always.
The reason this is on my mind is today in Relief Society my Bishop gave a wonderful lesson on Chastity and whatnot. It just made me so grateful for that wonderful gift that we have all been given. Let's just use it wisely. .

I love this gospel, and I know it's true. I mean that.

Sunny Day = Sunny Mood ☼

I find the sunnier and warmer the day, the happier my mood! I am a total sunshine girl, that's for sure :) I love the spring time and warm weather. Today was a beautiful day, and I thoroughly enjoyed being outside in it! (Even though yes, I did get a bit sunburned. .)
From noon until five o'clock this early evening our RHA (resident housing association) hosted a carnival for the residents! It was just outside my building and everything was free! I went at about 2:00 and stayed for a couple of hours. There were a bunch of little game booths, a big, blow-up obstacle course, cotton candy, hamburgers and hot dogs and music!
When we started feeling hot and a little tired, a couple friends and I decided to head out to the reservoir and bask in the sun! It was a great day! Great stress reliever and just what I needed.

I hope all of you were able to enjoy this beautiful weather in this beautiful world today :)

Live.Laugh.Love: I had a great weekend! :)

This past weekend my little brother and my mom came down to see me. The main reason for their visit was so my brother Jonah and I could go and see Brian Regan who was coming to SUU! I found out about this in January or February and bought the tickets the moment they went on sale :) Anyway, so they came down on Friday and we played games and went out to dinner before the show. That was a lot of fun. Then Brian Regan. . . . .man that was so much fun! He is hilarious, and I love his facial expressions! I enjoyed being able to go with my brother and just laugh our heads off 'til we were crying. It was great :)

After Brian Regan got over we went back to my place and danced with my roommates (Just Dance) and then ended the evening sitting on my bed watching "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs." It was a great time to have with just he and I. . . .brother-sister bonding time, as I would like to call it.

On Saturday we got up some-what early and started off our day playing Ticket to Ride (after my mom came over that is). My super stellar roommate Stephanie joined us. It was a good time! After that the four of us went to lunch to Chili's and then I took them to see where I'll be living next year! Then it was time for them to leave. . . .
I realize I have such a wonderful family and I'm so lucky that we get along so great! Right after they left I was really quite sad, even though I'll be seeing them in a couple weeks for Easter and my birthday. It was all I could do to not tear up. Haha I'm a baby, I know.

Then Saturday night was great too! I got to go on a date with a cute guy friend of mine. I haven't been on a date in a long time (well down at college I mean) so I was especially excited. We went down to St. George with Derek's brother (Brett) and his girlfriend (Kelli) and a few other friends out to eat at Texas Roadhouse for Brett's birthday. The food was GOOD! I've never been to Texas Roadhouse until then. After dinner we went and ate cake at Kelli's sister's house. After that we drove back to Cedar City and Derek and I went over to his place for a bit and just messed around on his keyboard and just talked and laughed.

Then today church was really good and uplifting! I felt like a lot of it was meant for me (don't you just love those days?) And for the most part we had good weather all day :) And there was also a fireside tonight that was really good. Elder Wirthlin of the Quorum of the 70 came and spoke to us.

Now on to a new week. . . .may I get through it alive.

Born this way!

"BORN THIS WAy"

It doesn't matter if you love him, or capital H-I-M
Just put your paws up
'Cause you were Born This Way, baby

My mama told me when I was young
We are all born superstars

She rolled my hair and put my lipstick on
In the glass of her boudoir

"There's nothin' wrong with lovin' who you are"
She said, "'Cause he made you perfect, babe"
"So hold your head up, girl and you you'll go far,
listen to me when I say"

CHORUS:
I'm beautiful in my way,
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track, baby
I was Born This Way

Don't hide yourself in regret,
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track, baby
I was Born This Way

POST CHORUS:
Ooo, there ain't no other way
Baby, I was Born This Way
Baby, I was Born This Way
Ooo, there ain't other way
Baby, I was Born-
I'm on the right track, baby
I was Born This Way

Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Don't be!

Give yourself prudence
And love your friends
Subway kid, rejoice your truth

In the religion of the insecure
I must be myself, respect my mouth

A different lover is not a sin
Believe capital H-I-M (Hey, Hey, Hey)
I love my life, I love this record and
Mi amore vole fe yah (Love needs faith)

(Repeat CHORUS)
(Repeat POST CHORUS)

Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Don't be!

Don't be drag, just be a queen
Whether you're broke or evergreen
You're black, white, beige, chola descent
You're lebanese, you're orient
Whether life's disabilities
Left you outcast, bullied or teased
Rejoice and love yourself today
'Cause baby, you were Born This Way

No matter gay, straight or bi
Lesbian, transgendered life
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born to survive
No matter black, white or beige
Chola or orient made
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born to be brave

CHORUS:
I'm beautiful in my way,
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track, baby
I was Born This Way

Don't hide yourself in regret,
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track, baby
I was Born This Way

I was Born This Way, hey!
I was Born This Way, hey!
I'm on the right track, baby
I was Born This Way, hey!

I was Born This Way, hey!
I was Born This Way, hey!
I'm on the right track, baby
I was Born This Way, hey
!

This song came on today while I was workin out. I listened to it over & over! Probably like half a dozen times or so! I LOVE it! It has such a good message! I'm beautiful just the way God made me, and I don't need to freakin' change for ANYONE! :)

Anyway, that is the message I wanted to share with everyone. We are all awesome, just the way God made us. There may be little things we can work on to improve ourselves just a tad, but don't get discouraged. Love yourself! Cuz God sure does!

Engaged.....in the right things.

Hey everone!!!
"I'm in love, I'm in love, and I don't care who knows it!!!!!!"

I'm engaged, can you believe it!?!?!
I couldn't be happier!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, not really. Don't have an aneurysm. lol
For April Fool's day this year I thought it would be funny to put myself as "Engaged" on facebook to see what kind of reactions from back home I could get. I thought I was being clever, but apparently not--many other people had the same idea. At first it started with just being me, but then my friend Taylor agreed to be my pretend fiancée. . .haha score! Maybe it'd seem more believable! Now all I needed was a ring. . .hmmm. Well I asked around my apartment to see if any of my roommates had a ring that looked like it could pass for an engagement ring. Sure enough, my roommate Kara had one! And it fit me!
Soon after I posted this picture (shown above) Taylor and I were getting lots of comments. It was so entertaining to see everyone's reactions and how confused they all seemed to be. "I didn't even know you were dating anyone, Kelsie!" or "This better be an April Fool's joke. . . ." Quite a few people who know me really well didn't buy it however, but decided to play along. On the other hand, quite a few people DID buy it! My parents were getting phone calls from relatives freaking out, wondering why they hadn't heard first-hand (before seeing it on FB) about it. It was great. I even got a phone call from a cute friend of mine from track. He was like "Kelsie, are you really engaged!?" I played along for a sec and was like "Yeah. . .!" He then said, "Ah oh my gosh! That is so exciting! But kinda. . . .weird. It's weird to think that you are actually getting married cuz you were just here last year and my track captain. But I'm happy for you." It was so cute/funny! Then I broke the news to him. He thought it was way funny, like I had had some amazing idea to do it. (High schoolers must not really do many April Fool's jokes like this, cuz is isn't as believable. Therefore, his news feed must not have been as filled with April-fool's engagements as mine was!) haha ;)
Then Taylor had another funny idea: he wanted to make it seem even more real that we were engaged and had us go and take engagement pictures! He has a good friend who is into photography, so he got him to agree to take a few. Sweet :) After our classes were out on Friday, we had a fun time laughing and teasing throughout the shoot. . .mostly just laughing our heads off and trying to keep straight, and believable "in-love" faces. We just stayed around campus. It was fun! Here are 4 of the photos Kyle sent us:
(my eyes are kinda crazy in this pic! I think they got edited lol)
Aww. . .don't you wish we were really engaged?! JK :P
Anyway, I just thought it was a fun(ny) story that if you didn't already know/hear I would share. But I did realize that I'm glad I realize that I'm really not ready to be engaged. I seriously am too young! I have a life to live! Also, wearing a ring on my left ring finger is just. . . . .annoying and weird. For now I think I will actually remain engaged. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .but engaged in my school work and in bettering myself and just living life to it's fullest! Yay for being single! Write the missionaries! :D
