"Afflictions can soften us and sweeten us, and can be a chastening influence. We often think of chastening as something being done to punish us.... Divine chastening, however, is a form of learning as it is administered at the hands of a loving Father."
~Elder Neal A. Maxwell
Something to think about: Why do you think it is so much easier to remember the Lord when we suffer, than when everything is going well? What can you do to remember the Lord even when times are good?
It's so easy to remember the Lord in the hard times, because we know we need him and can't do it alone during those times. That's the sad thing! We need him even when times are good! We must show him how appreciative we are for the blessings he's given us, otherwise why would he continue to bless us more if we don't even acknowledge/recognize the good things? Just food for thought.
